It's Friday afternoon and I'm writing you from a saturated tent, with sleeping bags dripping from their perch on the clothes line in our tent. We got word today from an older lady chatting at us from her second floor balcony that, "they say, it's the worst summer in 50 years."
We landed in Champlain today - a mere 40km from where we began in Point du Lac. This after hauling ourselves 66km into the wind just yesterday. It really helps when you stay at a nice BandB that serves you a four course breakfast and allows the luxury of leaving all our gear packed so that we can be on the road by 10 am.
Last night was our first campfire as we wanted to dry/warm up. We also felt a bit odd eating food that was delivered from the local greek restaurant, It was 10 o'clock before we'd finished devouring the bags of food we'd ordered.
It's official, we've had enough french fries to last us the rest of the trip. Today Lana had this version of poutine that was called "Garden" with veggies and peppers mixed in with all of the other standard issue ingredients; namely french fries, cheese curd and gravy. Both of our girls have had minor stomach issues since starting and we're becoming suspicious of the deep fried everything diet we've been on.
Any minute now my sister and her family will be arriving to hang out with us for a few days as we make oir way to and through Quebec city. My brother in law is a great cook and has packed his grill and what he calls a travelling bar. It's been 18 months since we got together so this will be nice - rain permitting.
